Shabbat Controller
Many elderly members of society and those with walking difficulties rely on electric vehicles throughout the week. However, standard vehicles may not be used on Shabbat. KeyWay Mobility Scooters therefore offers the "Shabbat Controller," an innovative mechanism designed by the Tzomet Institute that enables the religiously observant to use the Breeze and Sporster models on Shabbat and holidays in accordance with the Halachic ruling of leading authorities, based on the principle of kevod habriyut, human dignity.
First introduced in 2005, Amigo works in partnership with the Zomet Institute of Israel in production of the Shabbat Amigo used by Orthodox Jews on the Sabbath. A toggle switch changes operation from normal to Shabbat mode. With no throttle lever activation by the rider, the module’s timing circuit sets the chair in motion after 7-11 seconds, satisfying the “no work” Sabbath restriction. The Shabbat module may be added to select Amigo brand models as an option, (he RD, HD 450 and the RTX.) Each Shabbat Amigo is halachically-approved, individually inspected and certified by a Zomet representative. This ensures that all can participate fully in society regardless of any mobility difficulties, living complete and fulfilling lives with dignity.
The Shabbat Controller can be selected as an option when you purchase your Mobility Scooter. Click on one of the model to view more information.
